Swimming Safari Swim School offers a comprehensive program using the unique, effective curriculum that emphases Water Survival Skills
By working with each individual, our aim at Swimming Safari Swim School is to build swimmers who go from students to champions. We want our swimmers to be safe in the water…happy in the water…and confident in the water.
Baby & Me
The Baby and Me class is an incredible opportunity for parents and baby to share some precious moments and strengthen the bond between them as they discover the wonderful world of water together. This class focuses on a positive learning experience leading to harmony in the water. In this fun and foundational class, parents and babies will participate in: water exploration, breath control, water movement and safety skills in a fun and loving atmosphere with songs, games and colorful toys. Starting with water orientation and entry, floating skills, babies will gradually move on to gentle underwater submersions and roll-overs from their tummies into a survival floats. Both parents are welcome to participate in the 30 minute class. A great beginning to loving the water for life!
Level 1 & 2: Starfish and Sea Turtle
Starting with the Starfish Level (learning about the water), the non-swimmer or nervous swimmer who is uneasy putting their face in the water will learn to feel at ease getting into and going under the water with assistance using our specialized program which is a child centered approach, using songs, fun and games. The student, developing at their own speed with encouragement from the instructor, will participate in exploring and playing in the water. Moving on to the Sea Turtle Level (becoming comfortable in the water) students will learn proper body position while developing confidence in basic water skills, such as survival floating & gliding in the water.
Level 3 & 4: Whale and Frog
The Whale Level (breaking away from instructor) is for the swimmer, who is learning to float and glide independently. By the end of the Frog Level (becoming independent) the student will be on their own mastering how to move efficiently using their arms and legs, rolling over to a survival float with out help, and rhythmic breathing. Students will also be able to jump in from the side, and swim safely around the pool. Completing these levels, students are ready for stroke development.
Level 5 & 6: Octopus and Dolphin
Competitive strokes are introduced on the Octopus Level (learning different strokes). This is designed for the student who can already swim safely in the water, but will be challenged to improve their skills. Going on to the Dophin Level (deep water activities), students will be introduced to diving, sustaining in the water for extended lengths of time, & using proper strokes techniques.
Level 7 & 8: Shark and King Fish
The Shark Level (increasing distance & endurance) is for graduates of the previous learn-to-swim programs who can swim at least two lengths of a pool with ease and are now ready to improve their form. Introduction to racing, including racing dives and turns. When a student achieves the King Fish Level (swim team), they will work on the four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. This level is for the strong swimmer who is ready to challenge their body strength!
